Good morning, craft friends! It’s been more than two weeks since my hubby and I adopted two 4-month-old kittens. They bring so much joy and love to our home. But I have one problem with my littole boys. It’s getting hard to make some cards in a quiet and orderly atmosphere because of my curious boys.

They love to stay on my craft table once I pull out my supplies for card making: playing with markers, stepping on ink pads, blocking computer screen, and sleeping on papers. I tried a couple of cards earlier but it was impossible for me to finish my project while they were making a mess. I have no idea how other crafters who have cats secure their crafting space while doing projects. Any suggestions? I’m not harsh enough to isolate them, though.

That is my long excuse why my quickfire card for Catered Crop is one day behind schedule. 😉 The current challenge at Catered Crop is “Sequins” – we are supposed to use sequins to create our projects sparkle and shine. So I make a classy one-layer card using heat embossing.

I started by stamping an argyle pattern from Paper Smooches Debonair and the sentiment from PTI Inside&Out: Birthday in watermark ink on a smoky shadow card base from Perfect Match Cardstock. Then I heat embossed them using Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. To finish off the card, I put some gold sequins at the top and bottom of my embossed sentiment.

As usual, there is an fabulous Pinterest board that Linda has curated. You can head over to her board, Sequins, to find links to all the inspiring projects. I hope you also check out the other designers and share your sequin project at the Catered Crop.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a beautiful Sunday!

  1. I know exactly what you mean about the curiosity of cats getting in the way of crafting – one of mine even made an appearance when I was doing a craft dash video and then ruined it at the end (off camera thankfully) by knocking flat on it’s face before the glossy accents dried!!!). Cats – who’d have ’em??!!

Love the contrast of the gold embossing – very elegant.
Thanks for joining in the birthday celebrations at the 10 Minute Craft Dash.

  2. Very elegant looking card! Lovely color scheme! And the sequins are such great little details to the card! 🙂
Thanks so much for joining us at the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge!

  3. This is really elegant! I don’t have a good answer to your cats. I’d be a push over too if they were kittens. My cat is fully grown and takes no interest in my crafty stash! Thanks for linking up in our Unbirthday Birthday Challenge and making the Birthday Bash so fun. Don’t forget to put a link here to make it count! Thanks again for stoppin’ in.

  4. Very elegant. I have to laugh at the antics of your 2 fellas. I think if they step in the ink….they need to paw print your card. LOL! Saw this on MIM. It’s a beaut.

  5. Hey May! Thanks for linking this up to the Trendy Triangles challenge in the Moxie Fab World! I’m so glad you joined in on all the fun! 🙂
