Hi, crafty friends! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Today I’m sharing my quickfire card for the Catered Crop: Thank You Kindly challenge. Without further ado, here is what I came up with:

I created a fun shaker card using a color combo from Little Tangles challenge #48: teal, kraft, and orange. I know they are not traditional colors for winter holiday cards, but I absolutely loved to give it a try. As a CAS card maker, I felt kind of weird to see the look of my finished card, since it seemed too busy with all the images, colors, and sequins. What do you think?

I love my emboss resist panel that I created using clear embossing powder and distress inks. I think my embossed snowflakes went together with the snowflake patterned paper inside of the shaker box. The gold embossed sentiment banner was a great choice, too.

This is a close up of my shaker box. Doesn’t it look so lovely? I used the Classic Christmas Sequin Mix from Neat and Tangled to fill in the box. Those sequin scatters in festive colors absolutely make me so happy! 🙂

sample_1107Here is how I put together my card. 1)Stamp the snowflakes background image from Hero Arts Snowflakes stamp on a piece of white cardstock with VersaMark watermark ink. Then heat emboss it with clear embossing powder. 2)Sponge the colors over the embossed paper using Distress inks: Peacock Feathers, Antique Linen, and Ripe Persimmon. 3)Create a window using a rectangle die from Stitched Duo 2 Dies by Pretty Pink Posh. Then cut one piece of acetate and glue it to the back of the inked panel. 4)Stamp the girl images from Alpine Carolers stamp set by Mama Elephant. Color the images with Copic sketch markers and die cut them using Alpine Carolers die set. 5)Cut a piece of patterned paper and place the sequins on the paper. Adhere the die cut images on the acetate, then place the window panel over the patterned paper using foam adhesive. 6)Die cut a banner using a die from Streamers die set by Paper Smooches. Then heat emboss the sentiment from Thank You stamp set by Papertrey Ink and banner image from Streamers stamp set with gold embossing powder. Finish off the card by popping up the banner on the card front using foam adhesive.

I made another card using same theme but slightly different colors. This time I mixed several kinds of sequins from Pretty Pink Posh: Sparkling Clear Sequins, Classic Christmas Sequin Mix, Sparkling Clear Sequins, and Seattle Spirit Sequins Mix. To heat emboss the snowflakes, I used liquid platinum embossing powder. The sentiment was from Good Times stamp set by Mama Elephant.

I really love how my cards turned out. To be honest, I ended up with seven shaker cards. I seriously couldn’t stop making them, since it was too fun. LOL! Hope you loved my creations and got some inspiration to make your own shaker card. Don’t forget to stop by the Catered Crop blog to see the rest of the DT creations on Sunday, November 9. I hope you play along with us as the winners will have a chance to guest design on the next challenge. Thank you so much for stopping by.
