Hi, crafty friends! I’m up on the Altenew blog sharing three ways to use the Oriental Orchid Korean stamp set I designed for Altenew November release.

Oriental Orchid KoreanThis set contains not only the multi layer style of stamps to achieve detailed orchids, it also features my handwritten sentiments in Korean. If you want to see the English version of the orchid stamp set, please click HERE.

Orchid_English_grandeThis is the translation of Korean greetings. I tried to include the most popular sentiments for cardmaking. If you are Korean, you’ll notice how versatile these sentiments are.

For my first card, I focused on the multi layering to create my own cluster of orchids. You can easily make magical arrangements and bouquets of orchids.

This is a video showing you how I created my card. You can watch the video tutorial here or in HD on YouTube.

I went out of my comfort zone to create my next card, inspired by the queen of coloring, Marika. I used the Derwent watercolor pencil to color the orchids after stamping them with white ink on the navy blue card base. I used the white colored pencil without water for rich, intense color.

It isn’t perfect coloring as I tried this technique for the first time, but I love how my card turned out. What do you think?

This is a video showing you how I colored my orchids. You can watch the video tutorial here or in HD on YouTube. If you like this video, please give it a thumbs up. I really appreciate your support and love.

For my last card, I only used two layers of orchid in various colors. With mix of different shapes of orchids and unique sentiments in the set, the possibilities are endless.

  1. I love your white and blue card most as it’s such a pretty, refined look and unusual. They ate all lovely though 🙂

  2. Love your videos and all these orchid cards are beautiful, but my favorite card is the first one, so much detail in this stamp set, it’s amazing! Love the blue and white card, so elegant, and the last card with the background orchids with only 2 layers is fabulous as well. You really show the versatility of this orchid set!

  3. How beautiful, May! Each card is distinctly different so it’s hard to choose! There’s something about the white flowers on blue that just pulled me in though. I have that stamp set and need to start playing with it!

  4. This is such a lovely stamp set, May and I love all 3 cards. It isn’t possible to say which is a favorite because they are such different cards and all beautiful!

  5. Gorgeous cards and gorgeous stamp sets! My favorite is the blue and white. Something so sweet and elegant about it ♥

  6. Oh May…your cards are GORGEOUS – this is a ‘must have’ set….now to pick which one – LOL! Thank you for the chance to win one – they are soooooo impressive!
    Paper Hugs,
    Jan

  7. Both cards are so beautiful! I think I like the blue one better just because it looks like it is more hand made. I love all of your creations though. Sure wish that your Korean set had the sentiment in Korean and then the inside of the card could say what it means in English. I also subscribe to your YouTube channel. Thanks for sharing your creativity…it sure is inspiring!

  8. How am I supposed to choose one card from these three stunning designs?!! Your second card on the blue cardstock certainly caught my eye straight away and love how you used the white pencil, looks incredible. My favourite would have to be the last one though. Love those bright colours against the white and how you haven’t used the outlines of the flowers, such an amazing effect. You’ve designed another fantastic set May and bet its extremely popular!!!!

  9. All the cards are beautiful, but my favorite has to be the blue and white version. It is so elegant and yet still accessible. TFS – Julie

  10. I am a lover of flowers…and all things blue. Needless to say, I am in love with your blue orchid card. It’s a real inspiration to me!

My brothers and I were adopted from Korea, I don’t know the language but would love to learn someday. Now I’m closer to knowing what some of it says! I am going to have to buy this set now and share with my brothers, they’d really like that! Great work, love your videos too!

  22. Absolutely beautiful cards. If Altenew designed stamps with sentiments in Japanese, I’d buy them in a heartbeat. I don’t speak Korean…but I am a fan of Song SeungHeon 😉

  23. I absolutely love the blue and white one. Makes me want to order this set just so I can try to duplicate it.

  24. I was just watching the video on YT of that AMAZING layered card of yellow flowers with the purple center which is my absolute favorite!! I’ve never done layer stamping since I don’t own any set. That one is just INCREDIBLE!! I ADOREEEEEEE Oriental culture and have a couple of friends living in Korea.Would LOVE to go some day!!

  25. I really enjoyed your creation of this stamp set, and your two different and unique cards created. The Korean handwriting looks so pretty with the flowers, even though I don’t speak Korean I would almost want to choose the Korean set because it is so elegant and pretty to me!

  38. O.M.Wow! All three of your cards are stunning! I don’t know if I can choose a favorite. I think the white on blue is awesome because it was colored by hand, and the flowers look so realistic! But the third card might be my favorite because of all the bright colors; I think colors have a big effect on my mood and are the primary element that draws my attention to things. So I guess, my fave is #3! 🙂

Your cards here definitely show off how many different variations can be accomplished… of course, it’s your imagination that I could use. So, THANKS for the inspiration and ALL your work.
