Hi, crafty friends! Hope you are having a great start to your new year. Today I’m excited to be joining the Fusion Card challenge as a guest designer. I want to thank you to my sweet friend, Amy for inviting me to be a part of Fusion’s one year anniversary celebration.

The challenge is to make a card inspired by the photo, the sketch or BOTH. Here is what I came up with:

I created a birthday shaker card, inspired by the colors and the birthday theme from the inspiration photo. For my background panel, I heat embossed the numbers and watercolored them in various colors.

This is a closer look at my shaker window. Doesn’t it look so yummy? Those sequin scatters in soft colors absolutely make me happy! By the way, I glued the big star elements to not to move around for a nice placement.

This is a step-by-step tutorial on how I put together my card. 1)Stamp the numbers from Calendar Numbers by Waffle Flower Crafts using watermark ink on a piece of watercolor cardstock. 2)Heat emboss the numbers using Liquid Platinum embossing powder from Ranger. 3)Color the numbers in various colors using Distress Inks. 4)Create a window using a circle die from Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Circles die set. Then cut one piece of acetate and glue it to the inside of circle window. Next, make a thin ring out of heat embossed paper with two circle dies. Then adhere the ring on the acetate window. 5)Fill up the circle window with sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and some star accents. Then cover the back using foam tape. 6)Adhere the shaker panel to the black card base. 6)Stamp the sentiment from from Label Love stamp set by Altenew using black ink. Then adhere the sentiment banner on the card front using foam dots.

Since I was so pleased with how my card turned out, I couldn’t resist making another one with same theme but slightly different colors/sentiment. I hope you enjoyed my cards and got some inspiration to make your own shaker card.
