Hi crafty friends! Today is National Cat Day, which was founded in 2005 to celebrate the love of cats as well as raise awareness about the number of cats that need to be rescued each year. So I started off my day with giving lots of cuddles to my two 6-month-old cats. They are such a joy! 🙂

Today I got a jump on holiday card making with a snowman image from Holiday Tag Team stamp set by Stampin’ Up. I particularly chose this stamp set for ‘ABC’ Challenge #51 since it’s the oldest one I have. It was released in 2004 and then retired, but I was lucky to find it at a local flea market a couple of years ago. By the way, I created this window card inspired by a sketch from CAS on Sunday #20. I also was trying to make this one layer card for Addicted to CAS #25, but I failed to meet their criteria at the end.

I started off with a piece of Papertrey kraft cardstock which I cut to A2 size. Then I created my own background using polka dot stencil from Heidi Swapp: I placed the stencil over the card front, picked some white inks using a sponge dabber, and inked all over the open areas. Next, I die-cut a circular window with My Favorite Things’ Circle Die-namics so that I achieve the “looking through the window” effect when the card is closed.

After that, I die cut the circle using same die out of white cardstock, stamped the snowman image in black, colored it  with Copic markers, and attached my image on the inside of the card. I finished off the snowman with liquid pearls on his hat.

Next, I stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant Good Times set on the card front and heat embossed it using black embossing powder. I repeated heat embossing one more time with red embossing powder onto a piece of kraft cardstock, and trimmed the sentiment in a banner shape. Then I adhered the banner over the black embossed area to slightly show the black shadow for some dimension.

By the way, these are the supplies I used to create my card: Cuttlebug machine, Copics, heat tool weren’t pictured. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fabulous day!
