Hi, crafty friends! Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. Today I have two cards that I shared earlier this month on the Penny Black Simplicity blog. Here is what I came up with:

I made a wintery birthday card using masking technique. I also combined three different stamp sets from Penny Black to create my winter scene. I almost added some glossy accents on the balloon. But I’m glad I only applied some glitter on it instead.

This is how I made my birthday card. 1)Temporarily adhere some washi tape around three edges of the card base. Then cut some hill shape out of sticky note and adhere it below the card base. 2)Stamp the branch image from Bugsy and Owly stamp set using Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Then stamp the owl from the same set and balloon from Sweet Wishes stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. (I only used the partial image from the branch and balloon stamp.) 3)Mask off the stamped images using sticky notes. 4)Stamp the Crystal Pattern background image using Hero Arts Shadow Silver ink. 5)Peel off all the masks carefully. Then stamp the sentiment from Friendship stamp set using VersaFine Onyx Black ink. 6)Color the images using Copic Sketch Markers and add some glitter on the balloon using Wink of Stella Glitter Clear Marker.

I made another card using same theme but different background. This time I made my own stencil using Dots die and applied some texture paste over it. It’s hard to see from the photo, but I also added some glitter on the the dots to give an extra interest.
